Ex-Teacher Faces Sentencing Next Month In Teen Sex Case

MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) - A former southeastern Michigan science teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student faces sentencing next month after entering pleas in the case.

The Detroit Free Press reports 26-year-old Robert Yaek pleaded no contest last week to two counts each of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and using a computer to commit a crime. Records show he also pleaded no contest to child pornography crimes.

A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. He's scheduled to be in Macomb County Circuit Court on Jan. 14 to learn his punishment.

Yaek earlier resigned from the Armada Area Schools district. He was a science and math teacher at Armada Middle School.
