Ex-Patriots Player Due In Court In 2012 Killings

BOSTON (AP) — Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is due in court this week to face arraignment on murder charges for allegedly shooting two men in 2012.

He was indicted earlier this month in connection with the July 2012 shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. A third man was wounded.

Prosecutors said Hernandez ambushed and gunned down the men after a chance encounter inside a Boston nightclub. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Suffolk Superior Court.

He has already been charged in a 2013 murder. He pleaded not guilty in the killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez was released by the Patriots last summer after his arrest in Lloyd's death.

His lawyers have said he looks forward to proving his innocence.
