Ex-Gymnastics Instructor Enters Plea Deal In Teen Sex Case

LANSING (AP) - A former Lansing-area gymnastics instructor accused of criminal sexual conduct in connection with a relationship involving a 14-year-old female student has entered a plea agreement.

The Lansing State Journal reports 25-year-old Mikael Frutin pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, with four other counts being dismissed. Sentencing is scheduled for April 27.

East Lansing police started investigating the case in 2014 and say none of the alleged crimes happened at the gymnastics center in Delhi Township where Frutin worked.

Police say he fled the state when he became aware of the investigation. He was arrested in September by the U.S. Marshals Service in Los Angeles.
