Ex-Grand Valley State University Employee Charged With Embezzlement

ALLENDALE (WWJ/AP) - A former office coordinator at Grand Valley State University has been charged with embezzlement in connection with the theft of more than $50,000 from the western Michigan school.

Lynnea MacGeorge, 44, was arraigned earlier this week in Hudsonville District Court.

University spokeswoman Mary Eilleen Lyon told the Grand Rapids Press that MacGeorge resigned in June from the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management office on the Allendale campus, northwest of Grand Rapids. She had worked there since 2008.

Employees reported missing funds earlier this year and an investigation was started in June.

MacGeorge has been released on a $3,000 bond pending a Nov. 19 probable cause hearing.
