Ex-Deputy Charged With Offering Money For Sex To Ex-Inmate

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) - An ex-Berrien County jail deputy has been charged with offering money for sex to a former inmate.

Prosecutor Michael Sepic says 23-year-old Keegan Trail pleaded no contest Wednesday at his arraignment. Trail was ordered to perform community service and pay court fines.

A federal lawsuit filed earlier this year by 10 women says they were coerced into having sex while inmates at the southwestern Michigan jail.

The lawsuit names Berrien County and four jail deputies. Sepic says an investigation shows no sexual contact occurred at the jail.

Two deputies resigned and one was fired after an investigation into misconduct. A fourth continues to work at the jail.

No charges were filed against the other three deputies.

The Associated Press left a message Wednesday at a number listed for Trail.
