ESPN Ranks John Loyer As The Worst NBA Coach

I'm not breaking any news with this one -- ESPN has John Loyer as the worst coach in the NBA. Shocking, right? You really can't blame Loyer for this season, he walked into a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment.

And that is exactly what seemed to happen. With reports that Joe Dumars will step down as the team's GM, it means Loyer most likely will not be back with the Pistons next season.

From my experience at the Palace this season, Loyer really seems to know the game, but just don't have the tools to be able to do his job. When I say tools, I am referring to more than two unselfish players on the court. The fact he has to play Josh Smith at the small forward position is a joke; Smith should never play off the block, but that is just my opinion.

Here is ESPN's criteria for ranking the coaches:

We asked our ESPN Forecast panel to rate every owner, basketball decision-maker and coach from zero to 10, and we asked the panel to tell us how important each role is.

In particular, we asked the voters to rate each team's coach in terms of their performance in guiding the franchise to overall on-court success, both in the short and long term.

Is this ranking fair to John Loyer?
