Equipment Failure Knocks Out Power To 3,400 In Kent County

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP (AP) — Power is out to nearly 3,400 Consumers Energy customers in western Michigan.

The utility says an equipment failure in an electric substation knocked out some service about 2 p.m. Saturday in Kent County's Plainfield Township area.

Consumers Energy says a mobile substation is being brought in due to the amount of time expected to make repairs. All service is expected to be restored by 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Consumers Energy is a unit of Jackson-based CMS Energy Corp.
