Enjoying Your Paczki Day? Eating One Is Like A Handful Of Crisco

FAT TUESDAY - PACZKI DAY by Zahra H on YouTube

Metro Detroiters are indulging in an annual pre-lenten feast today called Fat Tuesday or Paczki Day. The filled pastries are more fattening than your average doughnut, but just how much fat is there in a paczek?

In a YouTube video shot by WWJ Producer/Reporter Zahra Huber, WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee provides a graphic illustration of what the amount of fat looks like. For the record it's 25 grams or 5 teaspoons of fat.

Lee doling out Crisco jokingly asks, "Doesn't that look delicious?"

As with the majority of Paczki Day revelers, WWJ Senior Managing Editor Rona Danziger was undeterred. "Not like that, but in a paczki ... yeah, I'm totally down with it," she said.

Do you eat Paczki? If so, how many do you typically eat? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about the local observance. You might want to think twice about it if you're watching your weight.
