NOVI (CBS Detroit) - The Engineering Society of Detroit will be hosting a job fair featuring 55 companies Monday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Organizers state more than 3,000 jobs will be available to applicants at the event.

"The numbers don't lie, and these numbers say Michigan is the nation's No. 1 spot for engineering jobs -- and engineering talent," said Robert Magee, ESD interim executive director, in a release. "We're looking forward to our busiest and best-ever Fall Job Fair next week."

The job fair runs from 2 - 7 p.m. Monday at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Organizers report that some of the open positions include the construction of the Detroit Red Wings arena, working on battery technology for greener cars, helping create the latest in voice recognition technology and working on the mobile entertainment of the future.

These positions are open to engineers of all types, scientists, and people in related technical fields, from information technology to high-tech, energy-efficient building trades. Sales, administrative and financial positions will also be offered.
