Emergency Manager Spokesman Tweets Pics Of Car Totaled In Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - The spokesperson for Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr is thanking Hyundai for saving his life.

Bill Nowling took to Twitter to post pictures of his severely smashed up vehicle and said the engineers who designed the "crumplezone" feature protected him from serious injuries.

A second tweet reads, "In the market for a new car. Mid size sedan. Looking to buy now."

Nowling told WXYZ-TV  he swerved at the last second, on Thursday, to avoid a semi truck on Maltby road. While his car is totaled, the EM's spokesman said he walked away with only a 3-inch gash above his elbow and some scrapes and bruises.

Nowling said he got 12 stitches and was in and out of the emergency room on Thursday, but is doing well.
