Elementary School On Lockdown Due To Barricaded Gunman In Ypsilanti Twp.

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Students at a Washtenaw County school are being held inside as authorities deal with a barricaded gunman situation.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Allen Road near East Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti Township — and saw a man with a gun in the home. The family members inside were able to get out of the house.

Sheriff's officials said kids at nearby Holmes Elementary School where not being allowed to leave the building, as a precaution.

No one has been hurt.

Roads are closed near Allen Road and Michigan Avenue. The sheriff's officials are asking drivers to avoid that area.
