Easy Target: Thieves Hit Unlocked Cars In Bloomfield Township

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are urging residents of one suburban Detroit neighborhood to be vigilant about locking their cars where ever they go and whenever they leave it unattended.

Over the past week several people who live and work in Bloomfield Township have reported that their cars were broken into -- police say all of the victims had left their car doors unlocked.

In some cases, purses that were left in plain view were stolen, as well as wallets, loose change and some electronics.

Earlier this week, people living on Rolling Rock, Fox River, Spinning Wheel and Fox Glen Court, near Opdyke and South Boulevard, reported their vehicles broken into. In one instance, car windows were broke out at Conant Elementary School where parents were attending youth soccer games.

Two older bikes were also taken off the back of one car.

Anyone who has information about the incidents should call police.
