Eastern Market Open For Special Tuesday Thanksgiving Market TODAY

DETROIT (WWJ) - If you were hoping to add a local flare to your Thanksgiving meal this year, you're in luck.

Detroit's Eastern Market is hosting a special Tuesday Thanksgiving Market on Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Shed 3, located at 2934 Russell Street.

The market will feature holiday favorites from local farmers and specialty food vendors, as well as seasonal holiday trimmings from the Upper Peninsula.

Shoppers can purchase Michigan cranberries from Burda's Berrys and local turkeys from J & M Farms and Bucu. Guests will also have an opportunity to support local specialty food entrepreneurs from Eastern Market's Detroit Kitchen Connect program such as Love's Custard Pie, Five Star Cakes Co., Chavos Tacos, Michigan Pepper Company and Jenn's Gluten Free.

Food trucks will also be present.

The Thanksgiving Market Day kicks off three weekends of holiday shopping at Eastern Market.

Sunday Street Market -- how Detroit does the holidays -- returns on  Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This holiday market features unique local gift giving items, Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, poinsettias, gift wrapping and photos with Santa.
