Duggan Seeking Successful Turn Around Business Schemes
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan says he needs help.
As WWJ's Marie Osborne reports, Duggan made the request while receiving an award from the Detroit business community.
Duggan asked local business leaders to contribute their success stories that involve successfully turning around business.
He says he's trying to find the reason some city departments just don't work.
On a ride recently with a city plow driver Duggan found out that the vehicle wasn't even equipped with GPS (global positioning system) or a radio for the driver to communicate with home base.
"They hand him a piece of paper and say to him - drive out Vernor until you hit the Dearborn border, drive back and then we'll give you a new piece of paper," he said. "That's the way we are operating."
"If your company has as one of its core skills - the ability to tear apart a process, get the employees involved in redesigning it and measure the outcome, we need your help," Duggan told the audience.
