Drunken Driver Allegedly Stops For A Bathroom Break -- At The Police Station

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say an intoxicated man was arrested after driving to a police station in Michigan as part of an effort to find a bathroom.

Police in Washtenaw County's Pittsfield Township, near Ann Arbor, say the 66-year-old Livonia man walked into the township's Department of Public Safety building around 6:30 p.m. Sunday and a township firefighter noticed that the man might be drunk.

Officials determined that the man had driven to the building and parked on the property. Police were called and the man failed field sobriety tests. Police say a breath test indicated that the man was above the legal limit for driving, and he was jailed.

The man's name wasn't immediately released, pending a review of possible charges by the Washtenaw County prosecutor's office.
