Driver Dies In Fiery Crash After Losing Control Around Curve, Crashing Into Tree

MILFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - One person is dead after an early morning accident in western Oakland County.

The accident happened around 4:40 a.m. Friday on South Hill Road near Maple Road in Milford Township.

According to police, the driver of a pickup truck lost control of their vehicle, went off the road around a curve and struck a tree. The truck then burst into flames.

When emergency responders arrived on the scene, the driver was deceased inside of the vehicle. At this point, investigators don't know the identity of the driver; they aren't even sure if the driver is a man or a woman.

Police say a preliminary investigation indicates that the truck was traveling at too fast of a speed to negotiate the curve.

South Hill Road is expected to remain closed for much of the morning as police investigate the crash scene.
