Driver, Passengers Crawl From Wrecked Car Moments Before It Bursts Into Flames Ending 100 MPH Joyride
DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a four people are lucky to be alive after their vehicle burst into flames following a high-speed crash on Detroit's east side.
The incident unfolded just before 1:30 a.m. Friday when officers on patrol saw a 2008 Dodge Charger traveling approximately 100 miles per hour in the area of Warren Avenue and I-75.
Police say the officers did not initiate a chase but a short time later, the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier at Canfield and Russell.

Police say the driver and three passengers were able to crawl out of the car just before it burst into flames.
The driver, a 25-year-old Detroit man, was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital with a broken arm. A Clinton Township man, who the car is registered to, was also taken to the hospital with a broken hip. Both were last reported in stable condition.
Two female passengers had minor injuries.
Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the driver is facing possible charges.
The crash remains under investigation.
