Dreaming Of A White Christmas? Old Farmer's Almanac Says You're In Luck

DETROIT (WWJ) - What kind of a winter are we in for here in Michigan?

"It's looks like it's going to be pretty cold, and I think it's going to be about cold as last winter but the good news is we are not going to get as much snow," says Mary Ann Jarvela, Senior Editor of the Old Farmer's Almanac.

When can we expect the snow and cold temperatures to arrive?

"You're going to start getting snow the first week in November and there's going to be some snow for Thanksgiving and the temperatures are not going to be too cold, but then in December, it's going to get really cold and then you are going to get some lake snow --and some snow storms -- there's going to be a white Christmas for sure," says Jarvela.

What's their average in the weather forecasting department?

According to Jarvela -- more than 80 percent accurate - and last year that average bumped to 93 percent she says.

The 199th edition of the Old Farmer's Almanac hits newsstands this week. The almanac has also gone online, with an online edition and a Facebook page.
