Donor In Jackson Giving Millions To Build New Sports Fieldhouse At High School

JACKSON, Mich. (AP) — A businessman is pledging to spend millions of dollars to build a fieldhouse for sports and other activities at a high school in Jackson.
The fieldhouse at Jackson High will have a weight training area, a full-width football field, sprint lanes and batting cages, MLive.com reported.
A variety of students, from the marching band to soccer, should be able to use it, Jackson Superintendent Jeff Beal said.
Al Glick said he and his family hope the fieldhouse will help "Jackson High School stand out for generations to come."
He's donating $10 million for the project. Glick said he was partly inspired by the 2018 voter approval of $86 million in bonds for projects elsewhere in the district.
Glick and brother Robert co-founded Alro Steel in Jackson in 1948.
"He looked and said, 'What are those things that the bond couldn't buy?' ... It's a blessing to have someone you know like Mr. Glick who is so passionate about our district," Beal said.
