Virtual Assistant "Dom" Ready To Take Orders On Domino's New Pizza App

Domino's Pizza has added voice recognition software, and a virtual assistant "Dom," to the Ann Arbor-based restaurant chain's smart phone app.
Dom, who is Domino's version of Apple Computer's Siri, appears on the homepage of the app and guides customers through the ordering process.
Want pizza? He'll ask what size, topping and crust. Want a side? He'll work through the offerings and items into the customer's cart. And for customers who don't want the computer generated assistance, they can still enter their order manually.
"There will be a day when typing on keyboards or with thumbs on mobile devices will come to a close; we want to be the ones who continue to advance the technology experience – hand-in-hand with our customers," said Patrick Doyle, Domino's Pizza president and CEO, in a release. "Our mobile app users who are a part of this launch are truly helping set the foundation for the innovations of today, that will soon enough become the standards of tomorrow."
The app went live Monday and features a human-like, male voice for ordering for both Domino's iPhone and Android apps.
Domino's ordering apps are available for free from the App Store on iPhone or the Google Play store on Android devices. Existing iPhone and Android app users will need the latest update to be able to utilize the voice ordering feature.
