DNR, MSU Collaborate To Hone Conservation Skills

EAST LANSING (AP) — Michigan State University and the state Department of Natural Resources have announced an online program to help conservation officers develop and sharpen their crime-fighting skills.

The state agency said Monday that its employees will take classes remotely from the university's School of Criminal Justice.

The agency says the online modules "will allow conservation officers across Michigan to access the training and complete it at a time that is convenient for them."

It says the modules are between 20 minutes and an hour long and include worksheets and quizzes.

The first module is called "Time of Death Estimation by Temperature Study of White-Tailed Deer." It's part of an effort to help conservation officers investigate poaching.
