Henrik Zetterberg will be Sweden's captain for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey.

Zetterberg's captaincy was announced at an event in Stockholm. This is his 13th international appearance for Sweden and second as captain.

The 36-year-old Detroit Red Wings forward was also captain for the 2014 Sochi Olympics but left the team after one game because of a back injury.

Zetterberg is the only player on Sweden's roster to have played in a World Cup, appearing in four games during the 2004 event.

The World Cup of Hockey takes place Sept. 17-Oct. 1 in Toronto.
