Detroit Zoo's 'Wild Lights' Holiday Display Starts Next Weekend

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas -- at the Detroit Zoo, at least.

The zoo will light up the night again this holiday season with Wild Lights, a spectacular light display, beginning Nov 18. Tickets are on sale now.

For 29 nights, more than five million LED lights will illuminate trees, buildings and over 100 animal sculptures throughout the zoo. The event also features live entertainment, figure skating performances, arts and crafts, storytelling and seasonal refreshments. Carousel rides and photos with Santa Claus will also be available for purchase.

A 10-minute adaptation of the beloved animated television classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will also be featured at the Wild Adventure Zone 4-D Theater exclusively during Wild Lights. Movie tickets are $5 per person.

Wild Lights takes place from 5:30 to 9 p.m.:
• November 18-20, 25-27
• December 1-4, 8-11, 15-23, 26-31

Tickets are $10 per person in advance, or $13 at the gate. Children under 2 are admitted free. Parking is $6 per car. Wild Lights is a rain, snow-or-shine event, and often sells out. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
