Detroit Woman Shot By Stray Bullet Inside Her Home After Hearing Gunfire Outside

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A west-side Detroit woman was hospitalized over the weekend after being hit by a stray bullet.

It happened Sunday night at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night while she was sitting inside her home on her couch.

Detroit police say that the 71-year-old woman heard two gunshots outside her home on Terry Street near the Jeffries Freeway. She was hit by at least one of the bullets that flew thru her window.

Police say the drive-by shooter was targeting the home, but not the woman who was hit.

The woman hasn't yet been identified and is expected to be okay. Police are searching for a suspect.
