Detroit Woman Charged In Beating Death Of Livonia Woman

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit woman has been charged in the fatal beating of a 66 year-old Livonia woman.

Tewana Sullivan, 50, is alleged to have been visiting a relative in an apartment building, on Purlingbrook in Livonia, last Wednesday night when she severely beat the older woman.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was rushed to a local hospital where she died three days later from the injuries.

Sullivan was arrested on the scene by Livonia police, initially charged with assault with intent to murder. When the victim died, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy amended the charge to first degree murder.

Sullivan is currently being held in the Wayne County jail and will be arraigned in 16th District Court on the new charges on Nov. 6.

Authorities aren't yet sharing details about what may have led to the assault.
