Detroit Tigers Acquire Kody Eaves From Los Angeles Angels In Exchange For Jefry Marte

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers announced today that the club has acquired infielder Kody Eaves from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for infielder Jefry Marte.

Eaves, 22, spent the entire 2015 season with Single A Inland Empire, playing in 134 games and hitting .248 (129x520) with 70 runs scored, 17 doubles, 11 triples, 11 home runs and 71 RBI. Eaves ranked second in the California League with 134 games played, tied for second with 11 triples and tied for third with 520 at bats.

Eaves has posted a career .262 (392x1498) batting average with 214 runs scored, 75 doubles, 29 triples, 24 home runs and 159 RBI in 373 games played.

Marte, 24, was designated for assignment by the Tigers on January 20. He spent most of the 2015 season with Triple A Toledo, hitting .275 (98x357) with 49 runs scored, 25 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs and 65 RBI. Marte also appeared in 33 games with the Tigers, hitting .213 (17x80) with nine runs scored, four doubles, four home runs and 11 RBI.
