Detroit Proud Playlist: Week of 4/13 - Special 'Detroit Music Awards Re-cap' Edition

Last week, we prepared for the 24th annual Detroit Music Awards with a playlist that featured some of the nominated artists and groups…

Well, this past Friday, the DMAs took place at the Fillmore Detroit, and we've decided to feature some of the winners in this week's Detroit Proud Playlist…

Winner – Best Country Artist/Group

The Orbitsuns call themselves "Not your dad's country," and we completely agree. A four-piece alternative country-rock band, they make music that is built for dancing to and for releasing the frustrations of the day. It's definitely country, but with the Detroit grittiness and fire. Check out more here!
1.    "Detroit Cold"
2.    "Whiskey Prayer"

DJ Maestro
Winner – Best Electronic/Dance Writer/Producer

It was then he met the legendary Godfather of techno (and fellow Detroiter) Juan Atkins, who introduced him to dance music. Over 30 years later, DJ Maestro is continuing to kill it on stage throughout Detroit with his talent. Listen to "Turbo Hustle" (an international hit) here!
