Detroit Police Officer Shoots Man Stabbing Another Man Outside Second Precinct

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating a violent attack outside the Second Precinct on the city's west side.

According Detroit Police Officer Adam Madera, an apparent domestic dispute between two men led to a stabbing and shooting, Tuesday afternoon.

Madera said a man began stabbing another man outside the precinct on Lesure, near Grand River; and when officers ordered him to stop and drop his weapon, he refused.

That's when a police officer shot the man in the thigh.

"It's very brazen of him," Madera told WWJ's Beth Fisher. "(We) don't know...what the argument was about. We don't know what the motive was right now. We're still  investigating; but it is very, very shocking that it would happen...it would occur right outside in front of the building."

Both injured men, reportedly in their 30s, were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

There was no immediate word on the condition of either man; although Madera did say the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Madera said the stabber is expected to face charges.

No names were released.
