Detroit Police K-9 Aries recovering from recent surgery

(CBS DETROIT) - Detroit Police Department K-9 Aries is in recovery after having surgery to remove his spleen a few weeks ago. 

"He's on track to make a full recovery and is back in training. He's very excited to get back to work," the police department said in a social media post. 

To demonstrate, the department shared a video of K-9 Aries following commands of a handler. 

Detroit Police Department's K-9 Unit began in 1971. The teams have a variety of assignments such as tracking lost persons or fleeing suspects, along with detection of narcotics and explosives.
