Detroit Police Investigate Suspicious Package Delivered To Hotel Across From Cobo Center

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit Police Special response team was on the scene at downtown hotel after reports of the delivery of a suspicious package Monday evening.

Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 around 8:30 p.m. that the package was not an incendiary device.

Officer Jennifer Moreno is with Detroit Police, who were out in force at the hotel located right across from Cobo Center, where press previews are underway at the North American International Auto Show this week.

She said police were notified at around 5:50 p.m. about the package that was delivered, addressed to an unregistered guest at the Crowne Plaza.

"It's actually worse of a suspicion because there's a large French delegation saying at the hotel," Moreno added, referring to terrorist attacks in France last week.

Larned was closed near Washington Blvd. downtown during the investigation, a person answering the phone at the Crowne Plaza said the hotel had not been evacuated.
