Detroit police investigate report of child falling out of apartment building window

Child hospitalized after falling out of apartment window, police say

The Detroit Police Department is investigating a report on Wednesday of a child who fell out of the window of an apartment building.

Police say the incident happened at about 4:33 p.m. in the 3200 block of Kendall Street.

The child was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

DPD says its child abuse unit is investigating the incident. They did not release any additional information.

A mother who lives near the apartment said she has 3-year-old twins, and something like this is a scary reminder about keeping children safe.

"It's scary, it's scary, it's scary. My first thought is to pray for the family and pray for the baby, just asking God to cover that baby and get him or her to a safe recovery. And then thinking about adding security measures so that something like that never happens again," said Teela Haley.
