Detroit Police Chief: Death Threat Won't Deter Fight On Drugs, Gangs

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police Chief James Craig says he's angry about a threat made against his life on social media.

Speaking out Sunday, Craig says he believes the threat was made by a gang member and drug dealer and he says it's made him more committed to a crack down on drugs in the city.

"In no way will we back off - we will continue our unwaivering committment to make the city of Detroit safer," said Chief Craig.

Craig says a threat made against him is a threat made against all members of the police department and members of the community.

On Saturday, the police department announced that a threat had been made against the police chief but did not provide specifics.

The FBI, Michigan State Police, and other agencies are investigating.
