Detroit Mayor Throws Support Behind Warren Evans' Campaign

DETROIT (WWJ) - The race for Wayne County Executive is heating up as Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan throw their support behind Warren Evans.

"I will be out - door to door - with my friend Warren Evans and will be supporting him right through the end of this campaign," rallied Mayor Duggan.

Duggan told WWJ's Stephanie Davis that Evans understands law enforcement:

"It is critical that we get a county executive who; one, has the experience to run a large organization budget and two, who knows the most pressing priority is we are going to deliver law enforcement services first," said Duggan.

Evans is in a crowded field of candidates that include current Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano, Westland Mayor William Wild, State Representative Phil Cavanaugh, and County Commissioner Kevin McNamara.

The primary election is August 5th.
