Detroit Man Killed In 'Suspicious' House Fire

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a man was killed in a house fire on Detroit's west side that might have been set intentionally.

The fire broke out just after 12 a.m. Thursday in the 4600 block of 17th Street, in a neighborhood near Grand River and Warren avenues.

A cause of the fire wasn't immediately clear but most of the damage was contained to the upstairs portion of the house.

A man living in the home, believed to be in his 50s, was unable to escape the flames and died in the fire.

Arson investigators are now trying to determine what caused the fire.
