Detroit Man Charged With Making False Bomb Threat Against Police Precinct

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 47-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly making a fake bomb threat on a Detroit police precinct.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has charged Jeffrey Allen Turner with one count of threat of bomb/harmful device. He's expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon.

Police say they received a phone call Wednesday morning from someone who claimed a bomb was inside the 12th precinct, on 7 Mile Road just west of Woodward Avenue. Crews responded to the scene with K-9 units to search the building and surrounding area before giving the "all-clear."

Investigators on the scene told WWJ they believed the threat might have been called in by a "disgruntled person" who was at the precinct on Monday. Evacuations for area buildings were not ordered and no one was injured.
