Detroit Man Charged After Leading Police On Chase, Saying It Was On His Bucket List
DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man who led police on a car chase -- saying it was an activity he wanted to check off of his bucket list -- was arraigned on several charges Friday.
Kurtis Kahiel Law, 33, was charged with fleeing to elude, resisting and obstructing a police officer, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended licence.
MSP Lt. Mike Shaw said Law was spotted driving recklessly on I-96 at Greenfield Thursday morning and refused to pull over, leading police on a chase.
He lost control of his Dodge Challenger a short distance away, crashed, and was taken into custody. When asked why he didn't stop, Shaw said Law told troopers a police chase was on his bucket list.
"I guess he was just being honest that he wanted to cross this off his list," Shaw told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeill. "But now his vehicle has been impounded and he faces felony charges as far as fleeing to elude and some other charges."
"So this may have been something that he thought about doing at the very beginning — thinking that it was a joke — but I'm pretty confident that he doesn't think it's a joke any longer," Shaw said.
