Detroit Man Arrested In Dearborn Jewelry Store Armed Robbery

DEARBORN (WWJ) - Dearbon police say "an exhausting investigation" led to the arrest of a jewelry store robber.

Dajuan Watson of Detroit was taken into custody one week after the crime, at Steven Bernard Jewelers on Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.

Dearborn police say, on Saturday, Jan. 16, Watson walked into the store, pointed a gun at a store employee and demanded he fill a bag with large amounts of jewelry. He then fled, police said, after taking some personal property from the victim as well.

Upon Waton's arrest, police said stolen property from the store and victim were recovered.

Watson is charged with armed robbery, larceny of $20,000 or more and felony firearm. Bond was set at $25,000 cash at an arraignment in 34th District Court on Saturday.

"Major crime reduction is a top priority of the Dearborn Police Department," said Police Chief Ronald Haddad, in a statement. "When these crimes occur, please know the utmost effort will be placed on identifying the offender(s) and bringing them to justice."
