Detroit Lions Sign Free Agent RB Stevan Ridley; Says He Has A 'Surprise'

The Detroit Lions made an attempt to solidify their run game Friday afternoon.

RB Stevan Ridley posted on his Instagram account that he signed a contract with the Detroit Lions.

Going into his sixth year in the NFL, he played in eight games for the New York Jets last season and rushed for 90 yards on 36 carries.

His previous four years were spent with the New England Patriots. He had his best season in 2012 when he carried the ball 290 times for 1,263 yards and 12 touchdowns.

"I can't be happier for another shot to tote this pill and showcase the gifts I've been truly blessed with! Detroit, I've got a surprise for you this year, I promise. I'm ready to get to work with my new family, so April 18th can't come soon enough! Lets eat fellas, and this year we want the whole plate!!"

Ridley will compete for playing time with Theo Riddick, Ameer Abdullah and Zach Zenner.
