Detroit Lions Players To Attend Anti-Hunger Event

DETROIT (AP) — A half-dozen Detroit Lions players are planning to take part in an anti-hunger event in the city.

Ashlee Palmer, Brandon Pettigrew, Glover Quin, Dominic Raiola, Jeremy Ross and Rob Sims are scheduled to attend the Meet Up & Eat Up get-together at Eastern Market on Tuesday.

The Lions and Ford Motor Co. are teaming up to fight hunger in Detroit and have been working to bring awareness to the issue via the Meet Up & Eat Up program.

Children who regularly eat free or reduced-price school meals and need access to food were encouraged over the summer months to visit Meet Up & Eat Up sites.

Tuesday's event is an extension of that campaign. It's designed to help educate Detroit Public Schools students and the community about food insecurity.
