Detroit Homeowner Shot By Burglar Possibly Impersonating A Police Officer

DETROIT (WWJ) - A homeowner on Detroit's west side was shot in the foot during an overnight home invasion, and the suspect may have been dressed as a police officer.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 12000 block of Robson, a dead-end street just south of I-96 between Greenfield Road and Hubbell Avenue.

The suspect claimed to be a police officer, according to reports, and barged into the man's home. When the suspect was confronted by the homeowner, he allegedly opened fire, striking the homeowner in the foot. The suspect then fled the scene.

The homeowner was treated at a hospital and is expected to recover.

Police are still investigating but say they don't have any leads on a possible suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600.
