Detroit Getting Decked For Lions Monday Night Football Game

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Downtown Detroit has touches of Honolulu Blue and Silver on light posts and buildings as the Detroit Lions, and area businesses, begin to prepare for Monday's season opener against the New York Giants.

The game, which normally would attract a large amount attraction, has a greater profile with a national audience on Monday Night Football.

Television crews could be found outside the stadium Friday preparing for the broadcast on ESPN.

Banners with pictures of the Lions players, have been placed on light posts surrounding the stadium. A large Nike ad, featuring Ndamukong Suh with his arms stretched out with the text "THIS IS A WALL," has been placed on a building along Madison Street.

And the tallest building in the city, the Renaissance Center, also features a GMC and Monday Night Football wrap.

The buildup to the game, which kicks off at 7:10 p.m. Monday, includes the Ultimate Block Party in Grand Circus Park hosted by 97.1 The Ticket.
