SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - While Miguel Cabrera's moon shot home runs may not reach the upper levels of the atmosphere, his home ballpark is visible from space.

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, who is spending one year aboard the International Space Station, took a photo of Detroit from nearly 220 miles above the Earth and posted it on Twitter.

The photo shows the Detroit River, Windsor and landmarks throughout the city.

Veteran astronaut Kelly is nearly four months into his one-year long mission aboard the space station.

During his mission, which is double the length of most expeditions, will test how the body reacts and adapts to long-duration spaceflight, according to NASA.

In addition to the variety of experiments that Kelly is conducting while orbiting the Earth at 17,500 miles per hour, he is chronicling the flight through photos posted on his Twitter feed and using the hashtag #YearInSpace.
