Detroit Firefighter Faces Trial In DJ's Shooting Death

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A 35-year-old  Detroit firefighter will stand trial in the slaying of a disc jockey during a shootout outside a west side bar.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Terrill Hardaway was bound over to circuit court earlier this week on second degree murder and felony firearm charges in the death of 41-year-old Tony Jackson.

The charges stem from a shooting that happened Dec. 29, 2012 outside Four Winds Lounge in the 19300 block of Schoolcraft, neat the Southfield Freeway and I-96.

According to Prosecutor Kym Worthy, Hardaway entered the bar and started a fight with Jackson, who worked as the bar's disc jockey. Security guards took the men outside where the fight continued. Worthy said both men pulled handguns and started shooting.

Jackson was hit with more than one slug and was pronounced dead at a hospital, while Hardaway was shot in the shoulder.

The argument was reportedly over a woman.

At earlier court proceedings, Worthy said Hardaway came to Four Winds Lounge threatening Jackson on at least two other occasions before the deadly shooting.

Hardaway is scheduled for arraignment on April 29.
