Delta Adds Holiday Humor To In-Flight Safety Briefing (Video)

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Delta Air Lines has taken a humorous approach to the somewhat stale in-flight safety video with a holiday-themed segment.

The nearly four-minute video features a flight attendant who delivers the serious message about safety features on Delta plane, with a variety of holiday cameos and a touch of humor.

These scenes include:

  • When asked if he agrees with helping passengers in an emergency row, Scrooge yells "bah,"
  • A number of passengers wear ugly sweaters,
  • The Elf on the Shelf gets buckled,
  • A recommendation to follow signage in the cabin which includes "no re-gifting,"
  • Flight attendants handing out egg nog,
  • And a cameo by the abominable snowman from the "Island of Misfit Toys."

Delta added humor to the videos nearly two years ago, with a 80's throwback video with break dancers and Alf posted earlier this year went viral and has had nearly 1.9 million views on YouTube.

Delta is Detroit Metropolitan Airport's largest carrier and operates nearly 500 departures to 137 destinations from its international hub at Metro.
