Death Of Pontiac Infant Under Investigation

PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's office is investigating the death of an infant in Pontiac.

Authorities say EMS responded to a call about a 2-month-old boy was found not breathing at his home Sunday night on Oliver Street near Perry and Montcalm.

The baby was taken to McClaren Oakland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The mother, whose name has not been released, told deputies that she'd been sleeping in bed with the baby and a 17-month old child when she awoke and found the younger baby not breathing.

Investigators say this could be a possible case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), according to a police report, or tragic co-sleeping accident— but an investigation continues.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office and Child Protective Services have been notified.
