Dearborn Heights Officer Found In Garage Died Of Drug Overdose

DETROIT (WWJ) - The death of a Dearborn Heights police officer last month has been determined to be the result of an accidental overdose.

Sgt. John Burdick and his friend James McKuen died on May 15th in McKuen's garage. Wayne County Medical examiner spokesperson Ryan Bridges says the death of Burdick was caused by an accidental drug overdose.

The overdose was a toxic combination of Cocaine and Fentynyl in Burdick's blood.

The cause of death of McKeuen, who was a good friend of Burdick, has not yet been determined. Burdick leaves behind a wife and two children.

In mid-May, officers crowded the scene Friday at a home, on Lochdale Street near Beech Daly and Joy roads, where the bodies were found shortly before 9:30 a.m.
