Deadly Accident Takes Life Of 2 Children, Injures Driver
DETROIT (WWJ) - A deadly accident on Detroit's west side has taken the lives of two children, as a speeding car slams into a tractor-trailer.
Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stevens tells WWJ the accident happened around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday on Oakland Avenue.
Officials say a 1972 Chevy Chevelle was speeding on northbound Oakland, when it hit the semi-truck that was southbound on Oakland - the truck was in the process of turning eastbound on Holbrook.
Sgt. Stevens says a 16-year old passenger in the car died. A 12-year old rear-seat passenger died a few hours later at the hospital, and the 35-year old driver of the car is in critical condition.
The driver of the semi apparently was not hurt.
