DDOT Bus Veers Off Road, Crashes Into Building

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A DDOT has been pulled from a building after it left the road during a crash on Friday.

Police tell WWJ Newsradio 950 that the bus veered off the road, hit a utility pole and ran into a the Sun Valley Foods building on Dexter Ave. near M-10 on the city's west side.

Police say a driver in a white SUV ran a stop sign while traveling down Doris St. at a high rate of speed when it hit the bus that was going northbound on Dexter.

Multiple people were trapped inside of the bus and the driver was lying on the ground when rescue crews arrived.

The driver of the SUV, the driver of the bus and four bus passengers were taken to Henry Ford Hospital in unknown conditions.

There were concerns that the roof of the loading dock would collapse when the bus was removed, but it was pulled to safety without incident.
