Dan Dickerson Recaps The Tigers Walk-Off Win Against The A's [AUDIO]

The Detroit Tigers finished a night honoring the 1984 World Champion Detroit Tigers in the most dramatic of ways – with the rarest of hits: with the Tigers down by three in the bottom of the 9th, Rajai Davis hit a walk-off Grand Slam to deliver an incredible 5-4 win for the Tigers. The Slam was notable in so many ways:
-it came against Sean Doolittle, who had allowed one run in 27 innings since April.
-it came after Austin Jackson – in a 9 pitch battle – worked Doolittle for a walk right before Davis stepped to the plate. Doolittle had walked one batter all season – with 57 strikeouts.
-it was just the 11th walk-off Grand Slam in American League history that came in the 9th inning or later, with a team down by three runs – an "Ultimate Grand Slam"…
-it came on a night when Alan Trammell – the only other Tigers player to hit an Ultimate Slam – was in the ballpark, for the 30th anniversary celebration.
-it marked the 2nd consecutive game at Comerica Park – in the regular season – where the A's had taken a 3 run lead to the bottom of the ninth, only to lose on a walk-off HR. Torii Hunter hit a three run walk-off home run off Grant Balfour to cap a 4-run rally, and deliver a 7-6 win over the A's last August.
