Crews Demolishing Trailer Hear Screams, Find Man Injured Inside

PONTIAC (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a 59-year-old man suffered broken bones and a deep cut to his head after a crew tried to demolish a trailer in Pontiac while he was inside.

The Oakland County sheriff's department says the crew had torn down a home at the site on North Sanford Street, in a neighborhood just east of Woodward Avenue along Huron Street, and returned Tuesday morning to demolish remaining structures.

The department says the crew, which had been hired by the city to clear abandoned homes, moved the trailer so it could be crushed and loaded onto a truck. As they started to demolish the trailer, they heard screaming from inside and found the man injured.

Investigators say the man had been repeatedly told to stay away from the property. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
